Het zogenaamde ‘niets’ is iets. The so called “nothing” is something

Als je je eigen gedachteproces heel nauwkeurig, intiem gadeslaat, kun je zien dat er eerst niets is, tenminste zo lijkt het, dan komt er een gedachte op, een plaatje. Het maakt niet uit of het een zintuigwaarneming is, die tot een gedachte is omgevormd of een kant-en-klaar gedachteplaatje dat uit het geheugen stamt. Het kan ook een gedachte zijn aan de toekomst (een projectie). Dat plaatje is er dan even en daarna lost het plaatje weer op, en opnieuw lijkt het dat er niets is. Tenminste als je BewustZijn niets wilt noemen.

If you take a precise and intimate look at your thought process, you can see that at first there is nothing, that at least is how it seems. Then a thought comes up, a picture. It makes no difference whether it is a sense impression, that has been transformed into a thought or a ready made thought picture stemming from your memory. It may also be a thought about the future, a projection. That picture is briefly there and then it dissolves again and once again it seems as if there is nothing. At least if you call Consciousness nothing.
